Say hi to the newest character in the Squeaky Toybox
crew : ) He doesn't have a name yet though(mainly
because i'm tired and need to go to bed haha)
He is an arctic octopus that collects messages in
bottles and reads them. He doesn't have any
octopus friends so to make up for it.. he has plenty of
pen pals that don't even know he exists.

Beyond adorable! Your general style and the soft colours really work well together.
One thing that I could imagine to still improve this a little would be a few shadows, nothing too strong, just something to ground in particular the octopus and some of the other objects on the sand. I'm aware of course that this style doesn't aim to be realistic but it I believe it would help the impact nonetheless.
You could consider some basic shading on everything in general as well then but I don't think it'd be very necessary.
Apart from that it might be nice to have the sand hill furthest away from the viewer in an even paler yellow than the middle one in order to create a better impression of depth.
I'm really in love with your clean line art btw and all in all this is really a very adorable piece.
